Background

Harry Appleton founded NWCC in 1947 as a proprietorship and incorporated the business in 1952. Throughout the years, Mr. Appleton, together with key employees, formed three additional corporations to handle various functions and product lines. These three companies were later merged into NWCC, with two now functioning as divisions under the National Wire & Cable Corporation parent.

In 1989, the company formed an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), to provide equity ownership in the company for the employees.
